I'm watching TV Shows About Pit Bull Rescues But Then I See This

I've been watching "Pit Boss" which is a TV show about 3 little people, led by a guy named Shorty and they rescue pit bulls. They show how pit bulls are friendly dogs.
Then I go on the Las Vegas web site and see this: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/jan/28/woman-suffers-potentially-life-threatening-injurie/ A 55-year-old woman was at Sunrise Hospital Friday evening with potentially life-threatening injuries after the family’s 80-pound pit bull attacked her and two other people, Metro Police said.
Police said they received reports of an animal attack about 5:45 p.m. in the 2400 block of Grannis Lane, near Sahara Avenue and Lamb Boulevard.
The dog bit the woman multiple times, causing serious injuries to her arm, hand, lower leg and foot, police said. The woman has lost fingers and will possibly lose a foot from bites that penetrated to the bone, police said.

I think I will play it safe and stay away from pit bulls, if at all possible.

  1. Honestly it's people as ignorant as you are portraying yourself to be who give breeds bad names.
"I think I will play it safe and stay away from pit bulls, if at all possible."

Well, now you had better stay away from Chocolate Labs:

Did you know that a Pitbull does not even fall in a 10% attack group? You know what does? Dalmations, German Shephards, Cocker Spaniels and Huskys.
Do you realize that most attacks are not just cause. Either the breed has been taught to be aggressive by starvation or beatings, or has been provoked. You have no idea what the woman was doing before it attacked. Now of course there are times when ANY breed can snap. Just like a human being, you can not breed a thought pattern into something. If two first degree murderers had a child and there child had a child with the same parental standing would their offspring also commit an act such as murder? No, just like you can't breed to be aggressive down countless bloodlines. Really stop and think about what you are saying and realize that the media only shows what they know you want to hear.

My Nephew was attacked by a "pitbull" according to the news, 17 stitches across his three year old face. The dog was actually a Black Lab. A family dog, two kids under the age of 5. Don't believe everything you hear.

Try this, see if you can even identify the Pitty on the first try. I was able to because I am a Canine Rehibilator. I work first hand with dogs deemed Agressive and Im sick of people knocking down an amazing breed.

  2. How many pit bulls have killed someone vs a wiener dog?

  3. Your putting a 7 lbs dog against a 60+ lbs dog. would you compare a child to an adult in strength?

4 people a year are killed by "pitbulls". There is an average of 37 fatal dog attacks each year in North America.

About 50-100 people die from bee stings
About 36,000 people die from the flu (CDC).
#About 40,000 people die in car accidents (NHTSA)

Vehicle accidents have a 46% Fatality rating. Guess we better outlaw cars and bees too hey?

The thing is that dogs who are well-socialized and who are treated with kindness, respect, and gentle leadership are less likely to bite than dogs who are abused and treated with violence.
Unfortunately you along with many other people have decided to blame the breed. When really its the handler. If you raise your child to be rude and ignorant and you don't allow them to play with other children or praise them ever you're asking for an explosive personality.

Ok, so lets say we "ban" pittys, then what Amstaffs? rottweilers? Dobermans? Presas? Cane Corsos? Mastiffs? Bulldogs? Shepherds? Dalmations? Do you think you'll never hear of an agressive dog again? Yeah right. The attention will turn to another breed, and another and another... Eventually it will be illegal to own a canine of anysort.

Honestly man realize that it's not a breed that's deemed aggressive it's the people behind it. Give those people a weiner dog and sure as shit it's going attack some one. (infact, as a young child I had 13 stitches down my face from a Dachsund cross)
Where ever you live will have a Pitbull rescue, go hang out for the day with some of the most amazing dogs ever and stop letting the press lead your choices.

  4. I've never said to ban the breed, however, owners need to be responsible. And there are times when pit bulls when treat proprly still attack.
The problem with pit bulls are their size. I've been bit by little dogs and it feels like a mosquito bite. I am pretty sure if a pit bull bit me, I would feel very injured.
And again, and especially in inner cities, people are not responsible with their dogs and they get abused and then grow mean, just like any other animal.
I am glad there are pit bull rescues out there, just like there are rescues for all sorts of dogs. We've rescued 3 dogs our selves and we go to the dog parks and play with pit bulls. Most are nice, a few are agressive. But when a dog the size of a pit bull gets agressive, then you really have to watch out.

  6. Dan you are very ignorant.

People need to quit talking ill about pit bulls.

I think we need licenses for any creature that you need to take care of including children. Also making the laws harsher to the point people will think twice, for harming them in any way.

With the African Americans, we feel horrible about our ancestors passing laws to exclude and attack them. Now we are doing it to innocent breeds.

This is a classic case of ignorant people repeating history because they can't learn from other peoples mistakes. Everyone needs to start reading and learning instead of pointing fingers and assuming. The evidence is in front of you from Anonymous's posts. Do your research and give intelligent posts.
