Update: The names of the officers was just released with a few more details:
From the LVRJ:
Two Las Vegas police officers were killed Sunday in an apparent ambush attack in a pizza restaurant that spilled over to a nearby Walmart store, where the two shooters committed suicide after shooting and killing a woman.
Details are sketchy but sources within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department say the officers were shot and killed by a man and a woman who approached them as they ate lunch at the CiCi’s Pizza, 309 N. Nellis Boulevard, at about 11:20 a.m.
Sheriff Doug Gillespie identified the officers as Alyn Beck, 42, and Igor Soldo, 32. He said no motive for the attack has been determined.
A law enforcement official who has been briefed on the incident said one officer was refilling a soft-drink when the female shooter approached him from behind and shot him in the head, killing him instantly.
The women then shot the other officer several times as he was trying to draw his pistol. Initial reports indicate that Soldo was the officer shot at the soda machine, but that has not been confirmed.
One officer was reportedly dead at the scene, while the other died later in surgery at University Medical Center. Both were assigned to the Northeast Area Command. Beck was a senior patrol officer who had taught Advanced Officer Skills Training and at the Metro academy.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/metro-identifies-officers-shot-northeast-las-vegas-police-ambush
Update from the LVRJ:
One unconfirmed report is that the two exchanged gunfire with a citizen who was carrying a concealed weapon, and that one of the shooters was injured. Police confirm that at least one civilian at the Walmart was shot and killed.
At a news conference at about 1 p.m. Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the male shooter, described as a tall white man, yelled “everyone get out” before shooting.
The man and woman then went to the back of the store and “there was some kind of suicide pact,” McMahill said.

The fire department alarm office says the incident started at 201 N Nellis, which is the Wal-Mart at Nellis and Stewart.

I have been to that Wal-Mart and Cici's Pizza many times and that area is a ghetto, inner city area.  Lots of crime and drug users in the area.
Prayers for the cops and WAl-Mart employees and customers.

Update: I wouldn't put too much creditabilty with Channel 3 news about the deaths at Wal-Mart because if they did have shooting victims there, they would not be bringing body bags out 1/2 after the shootings.
Update: According to fire scanner traffic, the fire department still have numerous ambulances on the scene along with the private ambulances.  The have a rehab/debriefing center set up.  They also just took another person the Sunrise Hospital.
But it seems like there is no more active shooting scene and the suspects are either caught or killed.

  2. I have no sympathy (I used to) for the officers due to the killings by cops every day. Not all are self defense and if its claimed they are, the majority of the officers are lying. Too many unarmed citizens have died from quick trigger cops who by the way have the necessary weapons to disable the suspect. But they choose to fire several rounds and if more than one cop there will be a hail of bullets flying everywhere with no regard to the safety of bystanders.

  3. I'm sorry you feel that way.
Yes, Metro has made mistakes and i have called them out on them. But i can only think of clear cut case, the case where the guy was shot in the bathroom in a "Furative" moment.
However, most, if not all, except the case case I mentioned, the "victims" brought the shootings on themselves.
And I would not hesitate to call Metro if I am in danger.

  4. Two down and hundreds more to go. When Metro Officers decide to abide by their code of ethics, follow the department's mission and comply with their sworn oath, then and only then will have any sympathy for these psychopaths with badges.
