Don't watch the video if you have a weak stomach, have the stomach flu or can't see a horrible injury happen.
But the video needs to be shown, to show people the dangers of sport and that bad things can happen.
This isn't the worst thing that has happened, sports wise, in Las Vegas- Dan Wheldon dying in the Indy Car race a few years ago tops this, but it is in the top 3.
My thought on the injury is this- While George is a great athlete, you have to wonder if he was physically ready to play. He just finished playing a long 82 game NBA season, where he logged a lo of minutes and then played in 2 playoff series after the season. His body really hasn't healed from the long season, so I wonder if this is a result of the long season with little rest.
Then you have to wonder if the basketball stanchion was too close to the court. even though many college and some pro games have been played at Thomas and Mack, for the high flying all stars, it seems like it was too close, especially compared to NBA basketball hoops.
He had successful surgery and will be out for an extended period of time. and by NBA standards, he seems like a decent guy who just signed a $90,000,000 contract. Best wishes for him.
