The Evils of Facebook

I teach in an elementary school in Northern Arizona.
Yesterday, a parent posted on her Facebook page that her son, who is in elementary school, came home and said the teacher slapped, hit, punched and pushed students in their classroom.
So, the first thing the parent did was to post it to her Facebook page.
Never mind that she did not call the school to find out if it was true or not.
Too bad that she didn't call the District office and talk to the folks down there.
Instead she posted the allegations to her friends.
Then she went to the school.
Then the student was questioned.
And like a bunch of cackling hens, they believed it, repeated the allegations and made suggestions, like going to the cops and CPS.
But it turns out that her son lied about everything.
And the parent didn't even apologize or say she was wrong.
This mother tried to ruin the career and life of a teacher because she believed her son, who apparently is a liar.
Just another example of the evil of Facebook and other social media.
