Do We Really Want A USS Detroit?

From the Detroit Free Press: The U.S. Navy has christened a warship named after Michigan's largest city.
U.S. Sen. Carl Levin's wife, Barbara, broke a bottle of champagne across the bow to formally christen the future USS Detroit. Barbara Levin is the ship's sponsor.
The christening took place Saturday on the Menominee River at the Marinette Marine Corp. shipyard in Marinette, Wis.
The ship will continue to undergo outfitting and testing before delivery to the Navy in 2015. Its home port will be in San Diego.  http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2014/10/18/uss-detroit-christening/17515275/
Unless the ship is a garbage ship, who thought it was a good idea to name a warship after one of the most run down and corrupt cities in the United States?  The name certainly won't strike fear in their enemies.
