Drug Test Welfare Kings And Queens?

In Texas, there is some support for drug testing welfare recipients for illegal drugs.
From ValleyCentral.com:
Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst are calling on the Texas Legislature to impose drug-testing for welfare and unemployment-benefits recipients.
The pair appeared at a rare joint event at an Austin glass company on Tuesday to cheer a bill pre-filed ahead of the upcoming 2013 legislative session.
The measure would tie welfare and unemployment benefits to drug-testing while banning using public funds to buy alcohol, tobacco and lottery tickets.
It would also strengthen job training requirements.
Perry said Texas can no longer afford to ignore "a behavior that would make it virtually impossible for someone to enter the workforce or finish school."
Dewhurst added that he had heard from a slew of businesses who had turned.  http://www.valleycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=824895#.UKnJCGc8VXs
The liberals argue, and perhaps correctly, that it will cost more to drug test the welfare kings and queens, and that may be true.  However, in the long run, if the drug using welfare kings and queens stop using drugs and get a job, the drug tests would be worth it.
But the bigger question is if the welfare kings and queens are using welfare payments for illegal drugs, how do we stop it?.  Why should taxpayer shave to put up with that?
Perhaps, and if it is not already done, give the people who get welfare, should be issued debit cards that only can be used at legitimate stores and they cannot get any cash back from the debit cards.  Further, they would have to use an ID to use the debit cards.  This should eliminate most welfare fraud and then eliminate the need for drug testing.
But if Texas does want to drug test welfare kings and queens, that would be great.  So, to the welfare kings and queens, welcome to the real world, where drug testing is a way of life for many, many people.
