A 14-year-old boy is the youngest of at least 8 people shot across the city Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the shooting, which stems from an ongoing gang conflict in the Marquette Park neighborhood, happened about 6:40 p.m.
The boy was approached by two others in the 7300 block of South Maplewood Avenue. The two asked him if he had marijuana before firing at him. They shot “multiple times” and hit him once in the arm, police said. The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.
The seven others wounded ranged in age from 18 to 56 and were shot as far north as Logan Square and as far south as Roseland.
The latest shooting happened at about 7:31 p.m. on the 1700 block of 71st Street in the West Englewood neighborhood.In that shooting, a 23-year-old man suffered a wound to his leg and was being treated on the scene as of 8:10 p.m., said police. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-teen-shot-on-far-south-side-in-roseland-neighborhood-20140422,0,4174884.story
