From the Chicago Tribune: The family of a teenager who died after falling from the second floor
onto the concrete ground floor of the former Ravenswood Hospital
building filed a wrongful-death lawsuit Wednesday against the building’s
owners.
The lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit court alleges
that the building’s owner, Lycee Francais de Chicago, failed to
maintain the site in a safe condition when Jose Morales fell through a
hole in the second floor of the building earlier this month. The lawsuit
also names American Demolition Corporation as a defendant.
On July 2, Morales, 16, and two
other boys, both 17, climbed a fire escape and entered the building,
police said. After Morales fell, the two other teens apparently carried
him out of the building before calling 911, police said.
He was
taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he later died,
according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-family-of-teen-killed-in-fall-at-shuttered-hospital-files-lawsuit-20120718,0,722391.story
The hospital was boarded up and the kids entered the hospital around 3AM. The kids entered the hospital by climbing up a fire escape, and they say the building is at fault?
What a bunch of morons along with an ambulance chasing lawyer. It's sad that the family lost their kid but if they want to blame someone, the family ought to look in the mirror.
