Another reason Why I Don't Like To Fly: Seatbelts Don't Matter

From the San Fran Chronicle: Seatbelts on planes are pointless, and passengers should be able to buy standing-room-only tickets, according to Michael O'Leary, chief executive of Irish discount airline Ryanair.
"If there ever was a crash on an aircraft, God forbid, a seatbelt won't save you." O'Leary told The Telegraph. "Seatbelts don't matter."
O'Leary, of course, has suggested charging to use airplane lavatories. His seatbelt comments tie into his stated desire to remove the last 10 rows of seats in airplanes to create a standing section.
While seatbelts probably won't help in a major crash, they can make a difference in turbulence, rough landings and minor mishaps.
O'Leary addressed this argument, saying: "We're not talking about areas of huge turbulence around Europe" and "We don't have heavy landings anymore."
I'm pretty sure if you say screw it to a flight attendance for not a wearing a seat belt on an airplane, you will probably thrown off the flight and arrested for disobeying the flight attendants.
