Interior Secretary Ken Salazar formally
apologized to Colorado Springs Gazette reporter Dave Philipps Wednesday
whom he threatened last week to "punch out" after Philipps asked him a
question about wild horses.
"As I said to you by phone today, I
apologize and regret the statement I made to you in Fountain," Salazar
wrote in a letter. "I also will be happy to speak with you officially on
the BLM Wild Horse and Burro program."
Philipps wrote a story
earlier this fall that probed how the Interior Department was handling
wild horses on BLM lands. He asked Salazar, a Democrat, a question
about it at an Election Day event supporting President Obama in Fountain
and a wild horse advocate from the Colorado-based Cloud Foundation
caught the exchange on video.
Philipps released the audio of Salazar's threat Tuesday.

The interview — recorded
by Philipps and and witnessed by Ginger Kathrens, head of the Cloud
Foundation, a Colorado-based wild horse advocacy organization — was "perfectly pleasant" until the end, Kathrens said.
"He
asked him about his what his major accomplishments were and then asked
him about his travels, what he was doing and then he asked him about the
1,700 wild horses in BLM holding facilities," Kathrens said. "Salazar
said he didn't know very much about it, but that it was his
understanding there was an investigation being done."After the interview , Kathrens said tried to shake Salazar's hand. He brushed past her, she said, and approached Philipps.
Salazar then reportedly said, "Don't you ever ... You know what, you do that again ... I'll punch you out."
Is there anybody in the Obama administration who is not a thug, in a sex scandal or lies in public?
I guess they take after their dear leader, thug Obama.
