Update: Hostess Union Workers: Stupid As Hell

You can't make these things up- From the San Fran Chronicle:  Outside the Oakland bakery, several striking workers said they weren't sure whether to believe that the company was kaput.
"They play hardball," said Carlos Deltoro of Mountain House, who has put in nine years as a machine operator at the Oakland bakery, located a stone's throw from the Coliseum. "This could be a tactic; that's what we're praying for. We're waiting to hear if it's official."....

The workers are getting strike pay of $200 a week from the union and will qualify for unemployment benefits.
"We've all got bills to pay," said Deltoro, who has three children, ages 5, 10 and 11. His wife is self-employed as a hair stylist, which he said is luckily a recession-proof business.
"These are rough times," said Rene Castillo, vice president of the baker's union Local 125. "The union strike defense fund can help, and we have free food 24 hours a day on the (picket) line."
On Friday, a buffet and barbecue were set up under a canopy. Were there any Twinkies or Zingers being offered?
"Oh, no no no no," Castillo said.
