Darwin Award Candidate

From the Houston Chronicle: A man reportedly trying to steal copper wire has died, the second such death in the Houston area in two weeks.
The man, whose name has not been released, was being treated at a hospital for burns covering more than half of his body. His death was reported to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences around 1 p.m. Thursday, a spokeswoman said.
CenterPoint Energy is warning thieves about possible electrocution and urging the public to be aware of the dangers of electrical wire theft....
The badly burned man was discovered around 10:30 p.m. Monday near a bus stop on Elgin and Travis. According to authorities, he was apparently injured while cutting through power cables in an abandoned Midtown building.
Houston Fire Department investigators determined that someone had cut through power cables, causing an electrical fire. Authorities found a charred hacksaw and partially burned ladder.
Another man was found dead on Oct. 24 at a CenterPoint Energy substation in Montgomery County.
A power company worker discovered the body of 37-year-old Harold Gene Schneider along with several tools. A substation fence had been cut and copper wire was missing. Burglary 101: If you are going to steal electric wiring, make sure the electricity is turned off.
Oh well, some more useless DNA kicked out of the gene pool.
