More Layoffs: Day 2

2 days after Obama being re-elected, the business world is celebrating with more lay offs:
From the Chicago Tribune: Chicago-based Groupon Inc. said Thursday it laid off 80 sales employees this week, reflecting ongoing efforts to automate some sales functions.
"Groupon announced several months ago it would be using technology to increase productivity through automation," the company said in a brief statement. "This week we reduced the sales team by approximately 80 members as part of that effort. We will always aim to optimize business operations wherever opportunities are identified."

From RINPR:
Three of the Providence Journal’s best photographers — Connie Grosch, John Freidah and Ruben W. Perez — are among the layoffs at the ProJo, RIPR has learned.
The newspaper says 23 people have lost their jobs.
Grosch is well known for her coverage of the Statehouse. She’s been a mainstay of the Smith Hill media for many years, offering insight into the human quality of politics through her photography.  http://wrnipoliticsblog.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/photographers-grosch-freidah-perez-among-projo-layoffs/
From Fox 8- Greensboro: TE Connectivity will close its Greensboro plant by the end of next year, resulting in 620 layoffs.
Tom Peacock, Senior Manager of Communications for TE Connectivity, confirms the plant on Piedmont Triad Parkway will close by December, 2013, with layoffs beginning in January.
620 employees will face layoffs while 50 employees will be transferred to other TE locations.
According to Peacock, the reason for the layoffs is a ”need to improve operating efficiencies.”  http://myfox8.com/2012/11/08/report-te-connectivity-to-close-greensboro-plant-670-layoffs-expected/
The Washington Times has a list of companies that are promising lay offs: Freedom Works has put together a list of companies that will be laying of employees as a result of President Barack Obama's health care law:
From 5 Live Little Rock: One of the state's largest aerospace firms announced Wednesday that it would shut down its operations. Hawker Beechcraft Inc. based in Kansas made the move after recently announcing its plan to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy as a stand-alone company.
A release from the company said that facilities in Mesa, AZ., and San Antonio will close as well.
Hawker, which filed for bankruptcy in May, employs about 280 people at Adams Field in Little Rock, where it finishes out its line of private jets. http://www.live5news.com/story/20045353/aerospace-company-announces-massive-layoffs
From WAFF: ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - As part of continuing efforts to close a chemical weapons incinerator in Anniston, the company that operates the facility now has dozens of fewer workers.
The Anniston Star reports (http://bit.ly/Z5tz1E ) that Westinghouse Anniston said its latest employee drawdown this week affects 50 workers at the Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility. The company is the contractor responsible for shutting down the facility. http://www.waff.com/story/20040642/layoffs-continue-at-anniston-weapons-plant
And these are just the ones making the news today.  I am sure there have been numerous other layoffs that have not been in the news.
And the hits just keep on coming, thanks to the voters of the United States, President Obama and the Democrats in Congress.
