In Nye County, they are having the trial of century, or at least the decade when Daniel Robbins is accused of murdering a punk kid who came on his property at 1:30 in the morning to retrieve his girlfriends belongings, even though the kid was told not to come over.
Well, a brilliant observer to the this blog noticed that the Pahrump Valley Times and the editor, Matt Ward, decided to publish a picture of the jurors on it's web site. Here is the picture:

I'm sure that when the judge saw or heard of this, he rolled his eyes and said what idiots they are over at the PVT and may have to rule on a mistrial.
I am sure the defense attorneys, when they saw this, they said "jackpot" if Robbins is found guilty- it will be an avenue of appeal.
But no matter what, this is bush league journalism at it's worse and it makes you wonder why they did it. Was it incompetence? Was the PVT and Matt Ward trying to get a mistrial because it appears that Robbins was winning the case and Ward has all but proclaimed Robbins guilty? Or perhaps Ward and his ilk at the PVT wanted to be part of the story in case the issue of the photo came up? After all, Ward is just a bully in town and he thinks he can do whatever he wants because he has the power of the pen.
Whatever the reason is, this could get a certain editor fired.
Matt Ward is just another name for incompentence. I could only wish this would get him fired. I hope Mr Robbins wins and is reunited with his family that he was trying to PROTECT!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI agree Danny needs to be home and he didn't do anything wrong just protecting his wife from a bully that came in the middle of the night just to make an argument over his girlfriends belongings. Matt wasn't suppose to ruin and take pictures of the jury trying to protect the trial anyway.

Actually, I don't care who you are or what your agenda is...but for your information our photographer was given explicit permission by Judge Robert Lane to take this photo. He even asked twice to make sure he heard correctly. And we did not include any identifying information beyond the jurors' images...can you tell who these people are? Were there any repercussions? No. It was meant to illustrate a story...the jurors went to the crime scene...how often does that happen in Pahrump?
You, sir, are a turd. Feel free to come up to the PVT anytime you like and we can discuss my methods and decisions all you want...maybe I'll even come to your workplace and critique your teaching skills.
