Norm of the LVRJ has been doing a good job on this story about David Cassidy and his screwing up a concert last month.
From Norm: David Cassidy is singing "I Think I Owe You" after his Davy Jones tribute went off the rails Sunday at the South Point.
An
apologetic Cassidy wants to make amends for his behavior by performing a
benefit at the hotel-casino, according to his publicist.
More
than 50 disgruntled show-goers reportedly walked out during the 1970s
teen idol's rambling performance, which included moments when he berated
the audience.
Cassidy's California-based publicist Jo-Ann Geffen,
in an email sent to Vegas Confidential on Thursday, said his fans "are
owed an explanation for what happened."
She said Cassidy, 62, "was
not feeling well and made the mistake of combining cold medication,
which he needed for his voice, and cortisone (for eczema which he gets
every time he comes to Las Vegas).
"He was so out of it from the
combination that he thought he would pass out and, the next day, didn't
even know there had been a problem until he was told," she said. http://www.lvrj.com/news/cassidy-publicist-blames-medication-161539965.html
What utter BS. Then how do you explain this, from Cassidy's web site:
Dear Jane
Thank you for letting us up with the life of our beloved David. And
Frances thanks to share these stunning photos with us. David is a
wonderful person. A spectacle of man and friend. And his generosity is
even greater than his amazing talent. God bless and protect my darling
David, ever.../.
David’s concert last night took me 42 years – and every moment was
wonderful. He gave a beautiful tribute to Davy Jones then went on to
help us re-live those precious Partridge Family days as well. His was
my very first live concert in Portland OR in 1970 – for awhile last
night, thanks to David, those 42 years melted away. Thanks for a
wonderful, nostalgic night!
MM in Las Vegas....
David’s opening night in Las Vegas, was amazing. David did such an
outstanding Job, in his tribute to Davy Jones. It felt as if Davy was up
there with David as he sang. Davy’s moves, and a hint of a British
accent, made it sound as they were doing a solo together, without a
hitch! I believe the energy and love we get from our loved ones here
will always be a part of us, even after they pass on. Last night that
energy was clearly there while David sang for Davy. He would be so proud
and honored. Tom, decided to treat us to short trip to Las Vegas, as
we have fallen hard times, and have not gotten away as we had so much
tragedy, since our soldier son T.J. was critically injured in
Afghanistan, and we lost two teens who were like our own, one month
later. It was such a gift that we will always be thankful for. Tom
teased me, Jill, about my David everything, growing up. Especially my
David Cassidy wall-paper, put up with scotch tape. When we left the
show, my brother said “Wow! That was an amazing show! http://www.davidcassidy.com/blog/2012/06/concert-june-29-2012/
As I said before (http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2012/07/he-ought-to-be-happy-that-people-even.html ) Cassidy and other performers should be thrilled that people still like them. Further, I don't know of cold medication that makes you act like an ass. Mess up songs, be forgetful, sure, but not being rude.
So, I hope Cassidy is truly sorry for what happened, but I doubt it as he had his publicist do the dirty work.

I agree this is BS. This is the usual same excuse his publicist has given for his past outbursts. In the Globe when Cassidy had a huge meltdown at an autograph show in L.A. two years ago she said it was because he was ill and took pills and threw up. Even though fan witnesses said that was not the reason and no vomiting happened. And when he was arrested for driving drunk a year ago, his publicist again gave this automatic excuse that he had taken a pill at noon and it affected his driving (the arrest report said he was pulled over for erratic driving at 8PM - 8 hours later one pill had affect on him? And at that time she also said "he won't ever take pills again". Later Cassidy admitted that he drank bourbon from a bottle a friend left in his car. So yeah definitely a BS excuse that is pulled out everytime his publicist has to 'explain' Cassidy's behavior. She must just have this excuse already in her omputer files and just changes the date and place of every incident she is "apologizing" for. She must be making mucho buckaroos, because any other self repecting publicist would have dropped him. Like how Sheen's did. When do you get tired of always defending such a person? It makes Ms Geffen's reputation as a publicist suspect.
ReplyDeleteThis was interesting to read. They are Partridge Family fans who I assume follow Cassidy's activities with better reality thinking. Geffen's excuses are also brought up here.
