Last night, totally out of the blue, a gunmen went shooting in an Aurora movie theater. At the link, you can listen to the radio broadcast of police and fire departments and you can hear the professionalism in voices of the dispatchers and police officers and firefighters. The dispatchers were incredibly calm despite all the radio traffic, the different police departments coming in, commotion and the horror that was being reported.
The police officers were professional in both looking for the suspect and the caring for the patients. When it became apparent that there were enough ambulances, they took 2-3 patients in their cars to the hospital.
The fire department tried to do things by the book but they were overwhelmed in the beginning when the cops were calling for ambulances and medics to come to different parts of the theater building. Once things calmed down, thanks to the cops taking patients to the hospital and getting more ambulances on the scene, things got better for the fire department.
