Now He tells Us

From the New York Daily News:
President Obama acknowledged Tuesday that his Taliban prisoner swap could blow up in his face — or somewhere else around the globe.
The five hardened terrorists sprung from Guantanamo Bay for suspected deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s return could rejoin the jihad on America, the President conceded in defending his decision.
“Is there a possibility of some of them trying to return to activities that are detrimental to us? Absolutely,” Obama told a news conference in Warsaw.
“That’s been true of all the prisoners that were released from Guantanamo. There’s a certain recidivism rate that takes place.”

Sadly, most Democrats are not even backing up Obama on this one.  They know he screwed up big time on this one.

  1. I'm not following you, Dan. You do know that prisoner swaps are done all the time in say, Israel, right? And that many, many Gitmo detainees have been released to various countries, and not just by Obama, but by Dubya too? Are we supposed to hold people without charge or trial forever? What do you think the solution is?

  2. Well I see serial liar and noted dumbass Jimby weighs in. Not unlike the ass-kicking he was delivered several days ago, he cannot answer for this:

Obama broke a law he signed that required a 30-day notice to Congress before releasing Gitmo prisoners. Oh, and Mom Jeans changing his answer why that notification wasn't done.

Why were the five terrorists released amongst the most dangerous in Gitmo. Certainly there were others in Camp X-Ray that could have been released.

I'm sure pasty-face can come up some lameassed response blaming George W. Bush.

  3. Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, the top-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, calls this a “dangerous precedent that puts all Americans at risk throughout the world.”

Ruppersberger is one of a growing chorus of critics who say five Taliban prisoners is too high a cost.

“Since World War Two we have not negotiated with terrorists or other groups,” Ruppersberger said… “What concerns me is the future. This puts all Americans at risk throughout the world, including our men and women on the front line…for kidnapping.”

  4. Jamie, i gave you that Israel does it, but they don't release high power terrorists.
They release low level petty criminals and keep the very bad people.
Obama has had every chance to hold military trials and has held only a couple trials.
This is just another issue that Obama has completely screwed up.
